The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is open to anyone who would like to know more about the Catholic faith. We gather together on a weekly basis (except in school holidays) to pray and to explore what it means to be a Catholic. A number of parishioners also volunteer to be involved with RCIA and they share their experiences of Catholic life.

Through the experience of RCIA, many people decide they would like to receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. Some people have already received one or more Sacraments (such as Baptism in another Christian church) and they can ask to become full members of the Catholic community through Reception into the Church and receiving the remaining Sacraments of Initiation. It is important to note that when a person chooses to participate in the RCIA, there is never any obligation to become a Catholic – sometimes people are simply happy to learn more about the Catholic faith. RCIA is held from September through to Pentecost (7 weeks after Easter) with Candidates receiving Sacraments at the Easter Saturday Vigil Mass.
