The Corpus Christi Parish Social Justice Group is perhaps known to many parishioners as the East Timor coffee sellers, once a month after Mass. While this is an important work of the group we do so much more and we are looking for new members to join us.
So what could you expect if you join us? We are a small group that meets in the parish meeting room once a month on the first Sunday at 4.30pm. We reflect on opportunities to bring the call to social justice into the life of our parish community.
To this end we helped the parish acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which Holy Family Church stands and helped the Parish Council develop a Reconciliation Action Plan. We have organized launches for Project Compassion and provided input for parish bulletins to highlight important social justice events, commemorations and supported initiatives (click to read an Article of Interest).
So people are most welcome to join and be as active as they like or supportive in a more low key way, such as just helping with sales of coffee after Mass or supporting activities that we organize. For any more information or to express your interest either give me a call or simply come along to one of our meetings.
